“Andy” is a playwright with deep dreams and shallow resources, but things seem to be looking up when the recession hits hard and a deserted Wall Street tower offers him office space in exchange for a tax write off. Coffee is drunk, doughnuts consumed, rules bent–until, suddenly, things catch fire and the office offers up its long-held secret. Not for kids or young teens.
Playwright’s note: This is my second time working with Brown/Trinity Playwright’s Rep. I first worked with the company two years ago on an older play, In spite of the Devil. I’d written the first draft of the script ten years previously, and had revised it in 2004, was thrilled to finally see it on its feet in 2008. This is My Office, which I wrote in a single burst in November and December 2009, is a much newer play, and one that I’m particularly excited to be working on. The Rep has been a wonderful artistic home for me, a community that I feel blessed to be a part of.
